Financial Literacy
Financial literacy is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. Many young adults are entering the workforce or college without a solid foundation in budgeting, saving, or understanding credit. According to a 2022 study by FINRA, 53% of young adults in the U.S. report feeling financially anxious. At Club 818, we offer practical, age-appropriate lessons in budgeting, taxes, and personal finance. Our goal is to equip youth with the knowledge to manage their financial future effectively.
Mental Health
Mental health is more than just a trending topic—it’s a critical aspect of youth development. With 42% of teens feeling persistently sad and hopeless according to a 10 year study published by the CDC in 2021, we are committed to providing tools and resources to help manage emotions, reduce stress, and build resilience. Our programming focuses on emotional intelligence, stress management, and building healthy coping mechanisms, aiming to create a supportive environment for mental well-being.
Physical Health
Maintaining physical health goes hand-in-hand with mental well-being. With increasing rates of childhood obesity and sedentary lifestyles, it’s crucial to teach young people the importance of staying active. According to the CDC, only 1 in 5 adolescents meets the required physical activity levels. Our programs combine fun, inclusive activities with education on nutrition and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Arts
The arts are a powerful tool for self-expression and cognitive development. Studies have shown that students involved in the arts are more likely to engage in academics and participate in community service. At Club 818, we encourage creative exploration through painting, music, drama, and more, empowering youth to develop their artistic skills while learning valuable life lessons in creativity and problem-solving.
Academics
Academic success is about more than grades; it's about cultivating curiosity and a love for learning. With many students falling behind due to the pandemic, we provide tutoring, study resources, and skills to support lifelong learning. A 2021 study showed a significant learning loss due to remote schooling, particularly in math and reading. We aim to close these gaps by offering tailored support to students in need.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
STEM education is crucial for preparing youth for the jobs of tomorrow. With a projected growth of 8% in STEM occupations by 2029, introducing young people to these fields early can spark interest and develop critical thinking skills. Our STEM-focused programs include hands-on activities and challenges to inspire the next generation of innovators.
Social Skills
The social isolation experienced during the pandemic has had a profound effect on social development. Many youths today face anxiety when it comes to social interaction, and recent reports show a significant rise in social anxiety among young people. We believe that building social skills—such as communication, collaboration, and leadership—is essential to personal and professional success. Our programs focus on team-building, leadership, and fostering a sense of community.
